Why this works
Turning right is expressly permitted
Waiting in the box to turn right, held up only by oncoming traffic, is not a contravention. This alone accounts for a large share of successful appeals.
Your exit only needs to be clear when you enter
If traffic ahead stopped unexpectedly after you had committed, you did not contravene. The approach footage shows this and a still image never does.

Box junction markings must comply with the regulations and the junction must be properly signed.

Common questions
Can I appeal a parking ticket if a yellow box junction fine?
You may enter a box junction if your exit is clear. You may also wait in the box when turning right if you are prevented from turning only by oncoming traffic or other right-turning vehicles. Challenging costs nothing, and if the issuer rejects you the escalation to an independent adjudicator is also free.
How long do I have to appeal?
Usually 28 days from the date on the notice, but the deadline that matters is often 14 days. Challenge within that window and most councils keep the 50% discount open for a further 14 days if they reject you. Private operators normally offer a reduced sum for the same period.
What evidence should I send?
The full uncut camera footage covering the approach. Dashcam footage if you have it. Photographs of the junction markings and signage.
Does it cost anything to appeal?
